MATCH SUMMARY
  • First Half
    • MACU had its first big chance 10 minutes in as a designed free kick played short allowed for an opportunity to put it into the box from wide. Izzy Dooley played a great ball in that was knocked down into the path of Liv Houlston whose effort was saved off the line by a Paul Quinn defender for the first big chance of the game.
    • The opener came in the 24th minute as a pair of substitutes combined for a brilliant team goal. Madison Chavez received a combination pass back from Brae Baker and drove into the open space. Chavez slid a pass perfectly into the path of Rosina Mastro who ripped her shot over the goalkeeper's head and tucked it under the crossbar.
    • Mastro found another good scoring opportunity in the 35th minute with space inside the attacking box. However, the Paul Quinn goalkeeper got the better of the shot attempt to keep the Evangel lead 1-0.
  • Second Half
    • The second half saw significantly less action as both teams were battling the extreme temperatures. Lexi Swetz turned her defender and rifled a shot off the crossbar in the 68th minute. The rebound fell to a wide-open Chavez at the back post who put her attempt over the goal.
    • Brae Baker and Houlston combined for a half chance in the 83rd minute, but the keeper was equal to the challenge. The Evangels were able to see out the remainder of the game to preserve the clean sheet and first win of the season.
