ALEXANDRIA, La. – The MACU Women's Soccer team finished its preparation for conference play after a 4-1 defeat to LSU Alexandria in the final non-conference game of the season as the Evangels start Sooner Athletic Conference play next weekend.

MATCH SUMMARY

• First Half
  • LSU Alexandria started the opening 10 minutes with spells of possession and created a few chances, none of which tested Niamh Taylor's goal. The Evangels had their first chance through Brae Baker on the counter which led to the opening shot on target in the 17^th minute.
  • MACU earned a corner kick as Stephanie Arrivillaga delivered a perfectly whipped ball into the path of Rosina Mastro who smashed in the header from six yards out for her third goal of the season. Mastro once again the goal scorer for MACU as she gave the Evangels a 1-0 lead in the 24^th minute.
  • Liv Houlston tested the Generals' goalkeeper right before the halftime break, but forced a routine save in the end. The Evangels played a solid defensive first half and took a deserving 1-0 lead into the halftime break.
• Second Half
  • The Generals came out firing to start the second half with two goals in the opening five minutes. A well worked team goal earned LSUA its first. Then a defensive mishap on the Evangels side allowed a second goal through.
  • LSU Alexandria extended its lead in the 60^th minute after a good spell of possession and sequence of passes allowed for the opening for the Generals' center forward who buried the finish into the bottom left corner.
  • The Generals fourth goal came in the 71^st to close out the second half comeback in 4-1 fashion.  

MATCH NOTES

• MACU held LSUA to no shots on target throughout the first half. However, the Generals fired off seven shots on frame in the second half alone to MACU's three.
• Rosina Mastro scored her third goal of the season. Stephanie Arrivillaga tallied her team-leading fourth assist of the year.  
• Brae Baker and Liv Houlston were the other two Evangels who mustered a shot on target.
• Niamh Taylor started between the posts for MACU but was unable to register a save and conceded three. Ariana Solorio closed out the final 30 minutes and made three saves and allowed one goal.
• MACU falls to 2-1 all-time against LSUA after the Evangels won the reverse fixture last season at the Dill Soccer Field, 4-1.  

NEXT UP

• Mid-America Christian gets a much-needed week off before starting Sooner Athletic Conference play with a road trip to Goodwell, Okla. to face Oklahoma Panhandle State on Sept. 26 for a 5 P.M. kickoff. The Evangels will return to the Dill Soccer Field the following Tuesday to host Central Christian.
