Adrian Savedra enters his fifth season leading the Mid-America Christian University baseball program.
In his first season at the helm, Savedra guided the Evangels to 20 victories and the program's first-ever Sooner Athletic Conference tourney win. He followed that up with a 22-win campaign in 2017, that included MACU's first ever Sooner Athletic Conference tournament victory, a 19-7 victory over St. Gregory's University in the opening game of the SAC tournament. In 2018, Savedra oversaw a program that again won 20 games on the season, and set several program records including pitching wins - both as a team, and individually for Keisy Portorreal - Single Season Individual doubles (Logan Gipson), and Single Game Individual Pitching Strikeouts (Portorreal).
Savedra came to MACU after a five-year stint as an assistant baseball coach at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, Okla.
At SNU, Savedra was involved in every aspect of recruiting, along with developing and implementing in-season and off-season defensive practice plan and playbooks for infielders and outfielders.
Savedra also has seven years of head coaching experience at the high school level, with the most recent occurring at Putnam City HS in Oklahoma City.
In 2004, Savedra started the baseball program at Santa Fe South High School in Oklahoma City. After the 5 seasons spent at Santa Fe South, he spent 2 seasons as the head coach at 6A Putnam City High School.
In 2008, while serving as the Santa Fe South head coach, Savedra helped form "A Life Worth Following (ALWF)" ministry in Oklahoma City.
Through the ALWF ministry, a summer baseball team was created called the OKC Ambassadors, which Savedra served as the head coach from 2008-13. He has spent the past 2 years as the ALWF ministry's Executive Director.
In the seven seasons with ALWF and the OKC Ambassadors, Savedra has coached 128 players total, 102 of which going on to play collegiate baseball and 21 at the NCAA Division I level. He also saw five of his former players be drafted by MLB.
Savedra, a native of Edmond, Okla., graduated from Oklahoma State University with a B.A. in Secondary Education-Biology and then obtained an M.A. in Educational Leadership from SNU.
He and his wife, Tara, and their 2 boys, AJ (age 9) and Arman (age 5) reside in Edmond, Okla.
