Austin Orth

Austin Orth is entering into his second season as the hitting coach for the MACU Baseball program for the upcoming 2025 campaign.

In his first season with the program, Orth helped mentor an Evangels lineup that saw drastic improvements from the plate as MACU posted its second-highest batting average recorded in the NAIA Era (2008-present) with a .328 clip while notching the single season record in slugging percentage (.531) and second-best on-base percentage (.419). On-top of that, MACU shattered its single-season runs record at 440, the first time ever eclipsing 400 runs in a year in the NAIA Era while also setting single-season marks in hits (553), doubles (115), triples (15), total bases (878) and RBIs (394) while also notching the second-most home runs (60).

The Evangels made a statement nationally with its offense as MACU ranked 23rd in the NAIA in batting average, 27th in slugging percentage and 31st in RBIs and 34th in runs scored.

On the whole, MACU reached new heights as a program as the Evangels captured their first ever Sooner Athletic Conference Championship after wrapping up the year with a 41-13 overall record while going 20-4 in league play. Mid-America Christian also captured its first ever SAC Tournament title after defeating No. 22 Oklahoma City at Bill Smith Ballpark in Chickasha, Oklahoma on May 7, 2024.

Before coming to MACU, Orth served as an assistant coach for Bishop McGuinness High School during the 2022-23 school year, where he handled duties that included developing and implementing practice plans, running logistics for scheduling games and traveling as well as assisted with student-athlete college recruiting.

Orth returned to the collegiate level this past year after serving as the hitting and catchers coach for the Oklahoma Christian baseball team for three seasons from fall 2019 to spring 2022 as the Eagles developed into one of the top hitting teams at the NCAA Division II level during the 2021 season, ranking 15th in scoring and 19th in both slugging percentage and home runs. Orth was promoted to the hitting coach position after serving as OC's JV Coach for three seasons from 2017 through 2019.

Outside of Oklahoma Christian, Orth served as the 17U Head Coach and Catching Coach for the Oklahoma City Sandlot from 2017-22 while previously serving as an assistant coach for Fort Collins High School and the 17U Triple Crown Sports club in Fort Collins from 2016-17.

Orth competed at the collegiate level for two seasons at Oklahoma Christian during the 2015 and 2016 seasons after a two-year stint at Yavapai College in Prescott, Arizona.
