Cailey Parsells will be entering into her second season as the graduate assistant coach for the MACU softball program heading into the 2025 season.
In her first season as the GA coach, Parsells served as the first-base coach for the team on game days as the Evangels put together one of their best seasons in program history, finishing the year with a 37-17 overall record while qualifying for the program's first ever NAIA Tournament. MACU also posted its program record for Sooner Athletic Conference wins as the team went 27-9 in league play to finish third in the conference standings.
On-top of notching the team's first ever bid to the NAIA Tournament, the Evangels captured their first NAIA tourney win with an impressive 4-0 victory over No. 15 College of Idaho in Fayette, Missouri on May 14.
Parsells returned to her alma mater after a highly-decorated four-year playing career at MACU from 2020-23. In 2021, Parsells was named an NCCAA Second Team All-American, was a two-time All-SAC First Team performer in 2021 and 2023 and was the 2022 recipient of the NCCAA's Deb Thompson Award, a prestigious honor that is presented to the softball student-athlete that best exemplifies the NCCAA's Game Plan 4 LIFE qualities (life, integrity, faith & excellence).
Over the course of her four-year career, Parsells shattered MACU's career on-base percentage (.440), runs (144), stolen bases (142) and hit-by-pitch (37) records as well as holds top 10 marks in hits (135, 8th), triples (11, 2nd), at-bats (435, 9th) and walks (65, 2nd).
On-top of the career records, Parsells holds multiple single-season records, which include the two runs runs record (52 in 2022 and 50 in 2023), triples (7, 2022) and three of the top four stolen base records (54 in 2022, 45 in 2023 and 42 in 2021).
In a 13-0 win at Southwestern (Kan.) on Mar. 29, 2023, Parsells notched the third-most RBIs in a single game in program history on an inside-the-park grand slam (four RBIs) and a two-RBI single. Parsells also broke the single-game stolen bases record in a 10-1 win at Central Christian (Kan.) on Apr. 15, 2022 when she nabbed five bags in the victory.
Parsells played an instrumental role in the Evangels capturing their first NCCAA World Series Championship during the 2021 season while helping guide MACU to the NCCAA World Series Semifinals in both 2022 and 2023.
A three-time NAIA, NCCAA and SAC Scholar-Athlete, Parsells earned her Bachelor's of Science degree in Psychology and Ministry Leadership in 2023 and is currently pursuing her Master's in Leadership at MACU. Parsells also currently serves as a chaplain at Bethany Children's Health Center, a role that she has held since November of 2022.
