Mickey Wakefield

Mickey Wakefield enters his ninth season as assistant softball coach at Mid-America Christian University heading into the 2023 campaign.

Wakefield has helped lead the Evangels to four NCCAA World Series appearances in the last seven seasons as well as the program's first NCCAA National Championship in 2021.

Prior to arriving at MACU, Wakefield served as the Slow Pitch Head Coach at Moore High School from 2012-14 and was named the Oklahoma Region II Large School Slow Pitch Coach of the Year for the 2014 season. He also had stints as Assistant Slow Pitch Coach from 2005-11 for Moore HS and as the Assistant Fast Pitch Coach from 2005-14. 

The son of current Head Coach Robert Wakefield, Mickey competed at Rose State College before playing his final year of baseball at MACU and was a member of the 2004 NCCAA Division II National Invitational Championship team. 

Wakefield was also a part of four state championship teams and two state runner-up squads at Moore High School.Â
