Holly McKamie is making her way into her sixth season as the head coach of the Mid-America Christian volleyball program in 2025.
McKamie was hired as the assistant coach of the program in January 2020 before being elevated to the head coaching role prior to the start of the 2020 season.
In the 2024 campaign, MACU put together another successful regular season and postseason run, finishing the year with an overall record of 21-14 and placed in a tie for third in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings with a 15-7 mark. The Evangels also qualified for the NCCAA National Championships with an at-large berth for the seventh consecutive year.
With a 3-0 sweep over Langston inside the Gaulke Activity Center on Sept. 14, McKamie notched her 100th career win with the Evangels.
During the 2023 season, the Evangels once again put together a stellar year under McKamie as the Evangels captured their second NCCAA Central Region Championship in the last three years while also finishing as the NCCAA National Finalist for the second time in the same time frame. MACU wrapped up the campaign with a 25-13 overall record and finished third in the SAC standings with a 15-5 league mark.
On Nov. 15, the Evangels hosted their first NCCAA Central Region Championship event since moving up to the Division I level in 2007 and captured the title after defeating SAC rival Wayland Baptist 3-0 (25-7, 25-20, 25-20). At the NCCAA National Championships, MACU advanced out of pool play after sweeping Baptist Bible (25-14, 25-13, 25-11) and Regent (25-18, 25-15, 25-23) and once again defeated Wayland Baptist 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-20, 25-22) in the semifinal match. In the title match, the Evangels battled hard against Grace with the two teams splitting the first two sets with the Lancers taking set one 25-20 and MACU claiming set two 25-21, but the Evangels were unable to hold off GC as the Lancers claimed the final two sets 25-21 and 25-20.
In 2022, Mid-America Christian notched its second straight 20-plus win season, wrapping up the year with a 20-16 overall record and finished fourth in the SAC standings with a 12-8 league mark. On Nov. 8, the Evangels made history as MACU not only hosted its first ever SAC Tournament match, but the Evangels also swept Oklahoma Panhandle State in straight sets to earn the program's first ever league tourney win. MACU also made its fourth consecutive trip to the NCCAA D-I National Championships, finishing as the national semifinalists.
During the 2021 campaign, McKamie led the Evangels to one of the team's best seasons in program history, closing out the year with a 30-9 overall record and came away with a second-place finish at the NCCAA Division I National Championships, just narrowly missing the program's first ever D-I title.
MACU won the NCCAA Central Region Championship after coming away with a dominant 25-14, 25-18, 25-11 sweep over College of the Ozarks on Nov. 18, 2021 before having another stellar showing at the NCCAA National Championships from Dec. 2-4. After coming away with a thrilling five-set victory over Judson (Ill.) to open pool play, the Evangels ended come winning their pool with two more three-set sweeps over Warner (Fla.) and No. 24 Bethel (Ind.) before defeating Campbellsville (Ky.) 3-1 in the semifinal round to advance to the program's first NCCAA Division I Championship match. Despite falling in three-sets to National Champion Columbia International (S.C.), the Evangels made it a nail-biting close match in a 25-23, 26-24, 25-20 defeat.
As a result of MACU's sensational season, McKamie was the first Evangels head coach to be named the NCCAA Central Region Coach of the Year.
The 30 wins recorded by MACU during the 2021 season marked the program's first 30-win year since joining the NAIA in 2007 while the Evangels also recorded their best ever finish in Sooner Athletic Conference play by finishing in fourth with a 15-5 league mark.
McKamie also coached Mid-America Christian's first NAIA All-American as outside hitter Hanna Foecker was selected as a Second Team honoree after leading the entire NAIA in kills (776) and kills per set (5.32).
In her first season with the Evangels, McKamie guided MACU to a 19-15 overall record, its most wins since the 2005 season and went 5-5 in Sooner Athletic Conference play.
Under McKamie, the Evangels qualified for just their second ever NCCAA National Championship Tournament, earning the No. 3 seed after being selected as the Central Region automatic qualifier.
For the first time since moving up to the NCCAA Division I level, the Evangels had two players selected as All-Americans with Hanna Foecker becoming the first ever First Team All-American while Maegan Plunk was a Second Team honoree. Foecker and Plunk were also the first pair to be selected as All-SAC First Team honorees in the same season as well as NAIA All-American Honorable Mention.
McKamie came to Mid-America Christian after a phenomenal run as the head of the Oklahoma City Storm, a Christian-based sports organization for homeschooled student-athletes. McKamie is also the coach of the Oklahoma Charge Volleyball Club 13's team, a highly competitive traveling squad. In 2021, the Charge won the Mid-East Qualifier and during the 2022 season, the Charge came away with a third-place finish at the USAV National Championships.
In the summer of 2024, McKamie's Charge 14UA team captured the AAU National Championship in Orlando, Florida on June 18 after going 13-0 in the national tournament.
In the spring of 2023, McKamie led the Charge to the Lonestar National Qualifier victory, which will allow the OKC Charge to compete for the USAV National Championship in June.
McKamie brings a championship pedigree to MACU from the OKC Storm, leading the program to three-straight Homeschool National Championships. The Storm won the 16's Division in 2017, the Class 4A championship in 2018 and the Undisputed Home School National Championship in 2019. The Storm compete against some of the top public and private school volleyball teams in the state of Oklahoma.
McKamie also has 12 years of high school and college volleyball officiating experience and now mentors other officials in their careers. McKamie's time as a volleyball official has presented her with an even deeper knowledge of the game.
In 1998, McKamie graduated with honors with a Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education at Oklahoma Wesleyan University. McKamie was the starting setter for the Eagles volleyball team in all four seasons, while also competing on the women's basketball team for four seasons, starting at guard in three of those campaigns. During her tenure, she received numerous academic and athletic awards, while competing in three NCCAA Division I National Championships.
McKamie has been married to her husband, Brian for 24 years and has three children.
