Hunter Thomas

Hunter Thomas will be entering his second season as the Volunteer Assistant Coach of the MACU volleyball program.

During the split 2020-21 campaign due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Thomas played a pivotal role in the Evangels' winningest season in the NAIA Era (2007-present), as MACU finished the year with a 19-15 overall record and made just its second ever NCCAA Division I National Championship appearance. During that season, the Evangels also put together a nine-match win, which also set the program's longest streak during the NAIA era.

Thomas also served as the Head Coach of the Oklahoma City Ignite Volleyball Club, coaching the 16's girls club team in 2020.

Thomas returned to the staff after serving as a student assistant coach for four years between the 2015-2018 seasons. In 2019, Thomas took on the head coaching reigns of the Kaizen 13's boys team, a club team in Oklahoma City that is operated by former MACU Volleyball Head Coach Mike Freeman.

A native of Chilhowie, Virginia, Thomas has been around the game of volleyball since the age of 10 and started playing travel ball at age 12. Thomas competed as a utility player that has played in every position on the court.

Thomas graduated from Mid-America Christian with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and currently serves as an admissions counselor for the campus. Thomas is also currently pursuing his MBA.
