Rachael Self

Rachael Self is entering into her second season as the graduate assistant coach of the MACU volleyball program heading into 2024.

Last season, Self helped guide the Evangels to one of their strongest seasons since joining the NAIA in 2007 as MACU finished the campaign with their second-most wins in that time span with a 25-13 overall record while also posting its best ever finish in the Sooner Athletic Conference standings with a third-place 15-5 league mark.

During the 2023 campaign, MACU captured its second ever NCCAA Central Region Championship after defeating Wayland Baptist in straight sets (25-7, 25-20, 25-20) inside the Gaulke Activity Center on Nov. 15. The Evangels also advanced to their second ever NCCAA Division I Championship match with a pair of 3-0 sweeps over Baptist Bible (Mo.) and Regent (Va.) before defeating Wayland Baptist again in the NCCAA Semifinal 3-1 (25-21, 21-25, 25-20, 25-22). MACU battled hard against eventual National Champion Grace (Ind.), but dropped a hard-fought 3-1 match to the Lancers.

Before coming to MACU, Self served as an assistant coach for the Oklahoma Charge 17UA Girls Team since 2017 and also been an assistant coach at Mount Saint Mary High School since 2015.

In her seven years with Mount Saint Mary, she has helped lead the Rockets to three 5A State Championships in 2016, 2021 and 2022.

Self has coached along with McKamie in the Oklahoma Charge volleyball club, posting some recent success after putting together a 36-18 record during the 2021-22 season and a 50-13 record during the 2020-21 campaign.

In her collegiate playing career, Self competed for NOC-Enid during the 2010-11 seasons before closing out her career with Northwestern Oklahoma State, who was making the transition from the NAIA to NCAA Division II level at the time. In her senior season with the Rangers in 2013, Self finished second on the team in digs with 177.
