11.17.07 - 11/18/07 NEWTON, Kan.- The Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels fell short against the Bethel College Lady Threshers Saturday, Nov. 17 at the Bethel College Classic. The Lady Threshers held off the Lady Evangels 79-72.

"We did not play well all weekend," Head Coach Josh Lind said. "We gave up some big offensive rebounds and missed defensive assignments both games."

The Lady Evangels jumped on the Lady Threshers early, starting the game on a 7-0 run. Bethel College countered the MACU run and went on a run of their own. The Lady Threshers outscored the Lady Evangels 21-1 in a seven minute stretch.

"Our defense broke down during that stretch," Coach Lind said. "We ran into foul trouble and we just looked confused on the floor."

Bethel College managed to take a 38-27 halftime lead.

The second half was back and forth with both teams making key runs. MACU struck first, trimming the Lady Threshers lead to single digits. The Lady Evangels cut the Bethel College lead to five points before the Lady Threshers extended their lead back to double digits. At one point the Lady Threshers lead by as much as 18 points.

The Lady Evangels started to trim the Lady Threshers lead, as the game went on and they found themselves down by single digits with ample time remaining. MACU found themselves down five with less than a minute left, but Bethel College held off the Lady Evangels for the win.

Miah Milton scored a game high 20 points and shot 75% from beyond the arc. Treasure McCoy recorded a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Courtney Sorrels added 11 points and eight rebounds. Shawna Patton contributed 15 points.

The Lady Evangels fell to 2-3 on the season.

MACU will travel to Durant, Okla. Tuesday, Nov.20, and play Southeastern Oklahoma State University at 6:00 p.m.
