OKLAHOMA CITY – Coming off its first Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament Championship, the MACU Women's Basketball program is proud to welcome Lauren Carmack to serve as the Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2026-27 season.
We are very excited to have Lauren joining our MACU family," remarked MACU Women's Basketball Head Coach Scott Morris. "She brings great energy and a valuable experience in NAIA basketball. Her time as a player and a coach at this level makes her a great fit for our basketball program."
Carmack comes to MACU after serving as the Assistant Coach at Colby Community College (Kan.) during the 2025-26 season, where she played a significant role in all facets of the women's basketball program. Competing in the nation's premier junior college conference, Carmack helped guide the Trojans to a sixth-place finish in the Jayhawk Conference, a first-round home playoff victory, and a second-round appearance in the NJCAA Region VI Tournament.
Before joining Colby, Carmack was an Assistant Coach at her alma mater, Sterling College (Kan.) for two seasons. During the 2024-25 season, Carmack helped guide the Warriors to a 21-11 overall record, going 14-8 in Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference play and guiding SC to the KCAC Tournament Championship with an 86-76 victory over Friends (Kan.) in the title tilt on Mar. 4, 2025. Carmack also served as the Head Coach of the Warriors' Varsity Reserve team during her two-year tenure.
Carmack joined the Sterling coaching staff after completing a four-year playing career with the Warriors, helping guide the team to four consecutive NAIA Tournament appearances and three consecutive KCAC regular season titles from 2020-22.
Carmack comes to MACU after Coach Morris in his first season at the helm of the program guided the Evangels to new heights, capturing the program's first SAC Tournament title after defeating College of the Ozarks 71-70 in the Championship game inside Abe Lemons Arena.
The Evangels wrapped up the season with a 25-7 overall record and finished second in the SAC standings with a 17-5 league mark. The result allowed the Evangels to get an automatic berth to the NAIA Tournament, making it the team's sixth-straight appearance in the tourney field.
MACU put together a historic season defensively, allowing its opponents to score only 59.1 points per game while holding teams to only 35.0 percent shooting, the 18th-lowest clip in the entire NAIA.

Mid-America Christian will officially open the season on October 31 as it will host Texas A&M-San Antonio at 2 p.m. inside the Gaulke Activity Center.
