MACU Student-Athletes Learn to Trust God

Feb. 7, 2008

2.7.08 - OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - The Mid-America Christian University student-athletes learned about trusting God in all situations at the Fellowship of Christian Athletes meeting Wednesday, Feb 6.

Vince Carter, a former University of Oklahoma offensive lineman, gave his message through song and the Word. Carter opened up the meeting with a couple of songs, and then spoke what was on his heart to the student-athletes.

Carter, a two-time First Team All-American, talked about his ups and downs of being a high profile athlete at OU. Carter told the student-athletes about how the most important decision in his life was letting God take control.

Carter said that he was on a plane going to Chicago in the National Football League and felt something empty inside of him. He picked up a book he had been reading and felt the burden to retire from the NFL.

Carter called his coach that night and retired, since then God has blessed him and others through his music.

"I want to thank Vince for coming out and sharing his testimony," FCA Director Zach Bice said. "I think that each student-athlete needs to hear how God works things out when you trust Him."

MACU will hold its next FCA meeting in March.
