3.9.09 - Oklahoma City, Okla.- Northwestern Oklahoma State designated hitter Chris Williams and Mid-America Christian pitcher Cody Wise are Sooner Athletic Conference Baseball Player and Pitcher of the Week for March 2-8.

Williams, a junior from Viadalie, La., led the Rangers to a 5-1 week batting .545 (12-22) with 11 runs, three doubles, five home runs and 17 RBI. He had a 1.364 slugging percentage and ripped a school-record three home runs and drove in eight runs (one shy of a school record) in one 18-16 win over St. Gregory's. The last of those three was a walk-off winner.

Wise, a senior from Palm Springs, Calif., tossed a complete-game, three-hit shutout against No. 17 Wayland Baptist. He struck out nine and walked two. This being the Evangels second season in the NAIA, Wise is the first SAC Pitcher of the Week in program history.

"Cody has really been working with pitching coach Dany Brazoban," head baseball coach Kevin Paxson said. "We are both happy to see him perform up to his capabilities."
