Oklahoma City, Okla. -- Two days before Thanksgiving, the Mid-America Christian men's basketball squad performed a Christian Service project to assist senior citizens with their Thanksgiving meals, in conjunction with the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.
Overall, the student-athletes unloaded over 1,200 cases of food that weighed 28 pounds each for a combined total of 34,944 pounds.
The food that the MACU players brought in was the equivalent of 26,880 meals for the senior citizens.
"Our players did a great job completing the work for the food bank, but what really stood out was the attitude in which our players had in doing the work," said MACU assistant head coach Charles Goar.
"They all displayed a servant's heart and worked with a great spirit within. We have a special group of young men who really understand what it means to give back to the community."
On the court, the Evangels begin an important three-game conference homestand, beginning with Lubbock Christian on Thursday night (Dec. 2) at 8 p.m. at the Gaulke Activity Center.
