My coach...with Putnam City West boys basketball coach Tim Stogsdill

Feb. 25, 2010

2.25.10 - Putnam City West boys basketball coach Tim Stogsdill talks about the coach who had the most influence on his life.

Coach: Willie Holley

Team: Mid-America Christian University

"Willie Holley is the reason I'm in coaching. The impact he had on my life, the example he showed every day to us -- Tyler Neal makes fun of me every day because I'm always talking about being big in the little things, and that's a Willie Holley phrase. He's a man of God, a wonderful example to follow. It wasn't just about winning games. It was about taking guys and making them men, teaching them life skills and teaching them about character. (At Mid-America) we put together an intramural team and he asked me to coach them. I was still in college at the time, but that was my first time coaching, and right there I knew this was something I wanted to do. Willie's been a big, big influence on me as far as where I'm at today. I still call him and try to get advice from him."
