No. 14 Southern Nazarene too much offensively in 107-79 win over Evangels

Bethany, Okla. -- The No. 14-ranked Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm shot a blistering 60.5 percent in the first half and never looked back in a 107-79 win in a Sooner Athletic Conference matchup Saturday night (Jan. 15) at the Sawyer Center in Bethany, Okla.

The Crimson Storm got going early as C.J. Henry hit three from downtown as SNU jumped out to a quick 13-2 lead.

MACU got back into it when Van Craven capped a 7-0 spurt that made it a four-point game at the 16:21 mark of the first half.

SNU then answered with seven straight of their own before Nathan Pratt nailed the first of his four first-half treys to make it 22-12.

Henry and Pratt then traded threes before a trey by Brandon Williams brought the Evangels (9-7, 5-5 SAC) within single-digits at 27-18 with 12:55 left in the opening half.

The three-point exhibition continued as Adrian Hunter hit a three that was matched by another trey from Pratt that again made it a nine-point game.

From that point, Jon West made two straight shots to start a 12-0 run that put the Crimson Storm in total command with a 42-21 lead.

The Crimson Storm (14-3, 7-2 SAC) never let up and extended out to a 67-35 edge at the break.

Henry scored 21 in the first half and kept it going in the second with seven quick points as SNU picked up where it left off with a 13-5 run out of the locker room for an 80-40 lead at the 16:05 mark.

Pratt wound up with 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting from the field and 5-of-8 from beyond the arc. Bradley Cosby also reached double-figure scoring with 1. Darius Gregory led the Evangels with six rebounds and Camilo Valencia dished out a team-high four assists.

Henry tallied a game-high 30 for the Crimson Storm and Horace McGloster pulled down a game-high 11 boards. Xavier Alexander chipped in with 12 with a game-high six dimes and A.J. Thomas added 11 points.

The Evangels will now open a two-game homestand beginning with St. Gregory's on Thursday night (Jan. 15) at 8 p.m. at the Gaulke Activity Center.
