Oklahoma City, Okla. -- Mid-America Christian senior forward John Shodipo has been named the Sooner Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league office announced today.
Shodipo led the Evangels to their fifth straight victory with a monster performance of 26 points and 10 rebounds in a 71-66 victory over John Brown last Saturday afternoon (Jan. 1). The five-game winning streak is the Evangels longest since joining the SAC and the NAIA in 2007.
He made all four of his three-point attempts, including a trey in a key 9-0 spurt that opened up a nine-point lead for MACU in the second half.
Shodipo also tallied four assists and two steals in the win.
For the season, Shodipo is second on the team in scoring with 13.9 ppg and has recorded a team-high 6.7 rebounds a game this season.
Shodipo and the Evangels will go for their sixth straight victory at Rogers State tonight (Jan. 3) at 8 p.m. in Claremore, Okla.
