Ada, Okla. -- The Mid-America Christian Evangels scored 11 runs on nine hits, but it wasn't enough as the East Central Tigers exploded for 21 tallies to defeat the Evangels in a game called in the eighth inning due to the run rule.
The Evangels (0-2) got going in the first as
Jeff Eubank singled in a run and a pair of hit batters and two walks led to another run.
Ethan Gold then doubled home three runs as part of a four run ECU first inning and Dack Howard keyed a five-run second inning with a two-run single for a seven run Tiger lead.
Dylan Mascarenas homered in the third for the Tigers' 10th run before
Emmanuel Jiminian singled home
Joe Moore in the third inning for the Evangels' third tally.
The Tigers (2-4) carried a nine-run cushion into the seventh inning when the Evangels cut into the deficit with a five-run inning keyed by two RBI from Eubank and an RBI single from Jiminian that made it 15-11.
But ECU put it away with four runs in the bottom of the seventh and two more in the eighth on a homer by Rick Hepworth and an RBI single by Gold.
Eubank paced the Evangels' offensive attack with two hits and four RBI. Jiminian went 3-4 with a pair of RBI.
Gold, Jonathan Ramos, Grant Rainwater and Jason Barth all drove in three runs for the Tigers.
The Evangels will next open up action at home with a four-game weekend series with Avila (Kan.), beginning on Friday with a doubleheader at noon.
