Claremore, Okla. -- The defending SAC champion and No. 2-ranked Oklahoma City Stars successfully defended their title by knocking off the top-ranked Oklahoma Christian Eagles by eight strokes at the Sooner Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championship, which concluded this afternoon (Apr. 27). 

The Stars were paced by Elliot Groves, who finished second with a score of 72-67-74-213. 

Groves was bested individually only by the Eagles' Preston Wilkins, who was the top overall finisher at 66-72-72-210. 

The Evangels entered the final day in eighth, and that's where they wound up at the tourney's conclusion.

Matt Costilow and Craighton Hale each shot a combined 234 score to finish tied for 35th overall to lead the Evangels. 

James Wiginton was right behind at 37th with a score of 236, while Karl Griffith was 41st at 241 and Jake McElhany came in tied for 43rd at 247.
