Eubank, Juvera power Evangels to 4-3 victory over Southern Nazarene

Oklahoma City, Okla. -- Ivan Juvera pitched a complete and Jeff Eubank provided the offense by continuing his torrid hitting with three RBI to power the Mid-America Christian Evangels to a 4-3 victory over the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm in the first of a three-game series Thursday afternoon (Apr. 7) at Evangel Field in OKC.

For the third straight game, Eubank put the Evangels on top with a solo homer in the first inning.

Eubank then singled home two runs in the third and scored on an RBI single by Adrian Bravo-Carmona as the Evangels scored three times in the inning for a four-run lead.

After cruising through the first two innings, Juvera ran into some trouble in the fourth as James Tunnell doubled home two runs and scored on a single from Derek Glenn that made it 4-3.

Juvera then induced an inning-ending double play to get out of the inning.

From that point, Juvera settled down and held the Crimson Storm scoreless on two hits over the next five innings to finish off the complete game victory.

Juvera struck out four over his nine innings of work.

Chris Eastham came on in relief for SNU and hurled 5 2/3 scoreless innings to keep the Crimson Storm close.

Eubank was 2-of-4 at the plate with three RBI and scored two runs.

Eridani Dume also collected two hits and scored one run for the Evangels.

The Evangels and Crimson Storm will play the second game of the series tomorrow afternoon (Apr. 8) at 3 p.m. in Bethany, Okla.
