OKLAHOMA CITY -- Senior
Brandon Williams concluded the regular season in grand style, earning Sooner Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week honors, the league announced today.
He ended his own regular season career with a bang, averaging 25.0 ppg in the Mid-America Christian University Evangels' two games this week to go along with 3.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and a whopping 4.5 steals. Williams also shot a blistering 72.7 percent overall from the field and a blazing 88.9 percent (8-of-9) from three-point distance.
Williams scored 18 points and had four rebounds and three steals as the Evangels hung tough at No. 1-ranked Oklahoma Baptist before falling 83-72. Williams then powered the Evangels to a Senior Day victory over St. Gregory's with a personal season-high 32 points, six steals, four assists and three rebounds on 10-of-12 shooting and 6-of-7 from beyond the arc.
Williams, the Evangels' first-ever NAIA All-American selection last season, is second on the team in scoring with 13.1 ppg and also ranks second in assists (75) on the season.
Next up for Williams and the Evangels is the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Central Regional Tournament next week in Denver, Colo. on the campus of Colorado Christian.
The Evangels advanced to the regional title game here last year before falling 81-73 to eventual NCCAA national champion Dallas Baptist.
