OKLAHOMA CITY -- The No. 11-ranked Lubbock Christian University Chaparrals' hitting and pitching proved to be too much for the Mid-America Christian University Evangels as the Chaps took the rubber game of the series 17-0 Saturday afternoon (Mar. 31) at James Curtis Field.
LCU did the bulk of their damage early on with two outs. After starter
Colby Crawford retired the first two batters of the game, consecutive walks and an RBI single by Jason Fisch plated Richard Bohlken for the first run of the game.
The Chaps (23-11, 11-4 SAC) then scored five runs in the second, four of which came with two outs. An RBI groundout for the second out by Brent Leslie scored the first run of the inning and LCU tacked on four more from that point, with the big blow of the inning being a two-run single by Fisch.
LCU then broke the game wide open with a five-run fourth, powered by a three-run double by Reagan Pearson.
Meanwhile, starter Lester Lugo stifled the Evangels through a seven-inning shutout, allowing only one hit and striking out three.
Fisch sparked the Chaps' offensive attack with a 5-of-5 effort and six RBI.
Joe Moore had the only hit for the Evangels in the bottom of the fourth.
The Evangels will next play a non-conference doubleheader at Bacone College on Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 3), beginning at 1 p.m. in Muskogee, Okla.
