OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Friends (Kan.) University Falcons snapped a scoreless tie with three runs in the third inning and it proved to be just enough to slip by the Mid-America Christian University Evangels 4-2 in a non-conference matchup Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 17) at James Curtis Field.
MACU starter
Colby Crawford cruised through the first two innings, blanking the Falcons on one hit. But Crawford ran into trouble in the third as the Falcons scored three of their four runs, keyed by an RBI double by Zach Ashford and a sacrifice fly by Dylan Fensky.
But that was all the Evangels could muster against four Falcon pitchers. Taylor Warkins blanked the Evangels on one hit over his three innings of work through the fourth, fifth and sixth innings to get the win.
Crawford lasted seven innings for the Evangels, striking out six and giving up three earned runs.
The Evangels will next begin a three-game series against Rogers State at home on Thursday afternoon (Apr. 19). First pitch is set for 3 p.m. The two schools will then wrap up the series with a doubleheader Saturday afternoon (Apr. 21) beginning at 1 p.m. in Claremore, Okla.
