OKLAHOMA CITY - The kids at the second annual Oklahoma City Thunder Youth Basketball Camp received quite a treat as OKC Thunder reserve shooting guard Daequan Cook paid a visit Tuesday afternoon (June 26) at the Gaulke Activity Center on the campus of Mid-America Christian University.
Cook held a question and answer session with the campers before visiting each station to interact and play games.
When asked what his secret to playing in the NBA is, Cook told the group a huge key was working hard on his game every day and getting a good education.
"The kids should never settle where they are, never give up and be the best they can be at whatever they do," Cook said.
Cook led the Western Conference Champion Thunder in three-point field-goal percentage this season at 42.2 percent, which ranked 11th in the NBA. He reached double-figure scoring seven times, with a season-best 20 points in a Feb. 15 victory over the Sacramento Kings.
He also contributed eight points in a 1:26 span in the second quarter in a pivotal 108-103 win over the San Antonio Spurts that gave the Thunder a 3-2 lead in the Western Conference Finals.
The camp continues at MACU through Friday (June 29), when visits are expected by Thunder mascot Rumble the Bison and the Thunder Girls.
