Warriors Score late to Upend Baseball Evangels, 4-2

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Sterling College (Kan.) Warriors snapped a 2-2 tie with runs in the sixth and seventh innings to defeat the Mid-America Christian University Evangels 4-2 in a non-conference matchup Saturday afternoon (Mar. 2) at James Curtis Field.

Shey Miller hit a one-out double in the sixth and scored the go-ahead run on a single by Joe Williams that put the Warriors in front to stay.

The Warriors (8-5) then added an insurance run in the seventh when Daniel Hall doubled home Joe Battaglia that made it a two-run game.

Matt Eshleman came on in the seventh in relief of an effective Matt Jackson and retired the Evangels in order to pick up the save.

The Evangels got to Jackson in the first inning as Taylor Daniels plated pinch runner Isaac Treadaway with an RBI double and then scored on a single by Trent Daniels for a 2-0 lead.

The Warriors pulled even in the third on an RBI single by Anthony Feliciano and then a run-scoring infield single from Hall.

After surrendering the two runs in the first, Jackson setted in and allowed only one hit over his next five innings of work to get the win.

Christian Hill danced out of trouble in his six innings for MACU, giving up only four runs on 11 hits with three strikeouts.  Blaine Garriot came on with a runner on first in the seventh and retired the Warriors on one hit.

Taylor Daniels had two of the Evangels' three hits on the day with an RBI and a run scored.

The Evangels will next play at Hillsdale College on Tuesday afternoon (Mar. 5) at 1 p.m. in Moore, Okla.
