Shawnee, Okla. -- The Oklahoma Baptist University Bison received two superb pitching performances in sweeping the Mid-America Christian University Evangels by scores of 9-0 and 11-3 Friday afternoon (Apr. 12) in Shawnee, Okla.
Julian Mayweather shut down the Evangels in the opener, hurling seven shutout innings and allowing only three hits with five strikeouts.
After MACU starter Brett Lamb wiggled out of a two-out, bases-loaded jam in the first, Kevin Hatch put the Bison on top with a solo homer in the bottom of the second.
The Bison then slowly pulled away, scoring two runs each of the next four innings.
Trent Daniels had two of the Evangels' three hits in the opener, while Matt Page and Jeff Johnson drove in two runs each for OBU and Mitch Warne went 3-of-3 with one RBI.
The Bison then got off to a quick start in the nightcap with three runs in the first before two-run doubles by Garrett Roberts and Mason Ankeney keyed an eight-run third inning that busted the game open.
An RBI double by JP Seifried plated Kory Palmer to put the Evangels on the board in the fifth and MACU added two more runs in the seventh.
Seifried and Taylor Daniels led the Evangels with two hits apiece in the second game.
Eric Fredrick fanned six Evangels over six innings, giving up one run on five hits.
