Bison Sweep a pair from Evangels

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma Baptist University Bison completed a four-game sweep by taking two today (Apr. 14) from the Mid-America Christian University Evangels by scores of 10-0 and 8-1 at James Curtis Field.

With the Bison ahead 1-0 in the second game, the Evangels briefly tied the score on an RBI single by Trent Daniels that scored Bryan McKissick in the bottom of the first.

From there, it was all OBU as a two-run double by Matt Page keyed a five-run second inning that gave the Bison a five-run lead.

An RBI triple by Greg Nelson in the third made it 7-1 and OBU tacked on another insurance run in the fifth.

Following his brilliant complete game victory over No. 2-ranked Oklahoma City University, MACU starter Christian Hill allowed eight runs but was charged with only one earned run thanks to four errors, including two of his own.  He also struck out four in his five innings of work.

Tim Ulloa blanked the Bison over the final two innings with two strikeouts.

Jordan Morales got the win for OBU by pitching five innings and giving up one run and striking out three.  Jesus Carlos pitched two scoreless innings to close out the win.

Garrett Roberts paced the Bison offensive attack with a 3-of-4 effort at the plate and three runs scored.

OBU hurler Richard Lucas stifled the Evangels in the opener, throwing seven scoreless frames and striking out eight with only two hits allowed.

Mitch Warne got the Bison going with a two-run homer that fueled a three-run second inning.

Mason Ankeney then hit a pair of two-run doubles that keyed three-run sixth and seventh innings for OBU.

MACU starter Levi Nelson was also hurt by a miscue that led to three of his four runs allowed being unearned.

The Evangels will next play a single game Tuesday afternoon (Apr. 16) at Oklahoma Wesleyan University beginning at 1 p.m. in Bartlesville, Okla.
