Towson, Md. -- Mid-America Christian University first baseman Trent Daniels has earned a spot on the prestigious Capitol One Academic All-America College Division team as a third-team selection, the organization released today.
Earlier this month, Daniels was voted as a Capitol One Academic All-District pick, which advanced him onto the All-America ballot. To be eligible for this award, a student-athlete must be a starter or key reserve with a minimum 3.3 GPA, be at least a sophomore in athletic standing and be nominated by the school's Sports Information Director.
Daniels, a senior from Oklahoma City, maintained a perfect 4.0 grade-point-average in Behavioral Science at MACU. He is one of only two Sooner Athletic Conference student-athletes to receive the honor this year (Brent Leslie, Lubbock Christian University).
On the field, Daniels started all 52 games and posted a team-high .393 on-base percentage for the Evangels. He also finished second on the team in runs (15) and walks (16) and third in hitting (.229).
