OKLAHOMA CITY – The Mid-America Christian University men's basketball program has added highly touted point guard Semar Farris for the upcoming 2013-14 season.

Farris comes to MACU from Eastfield College in Dallas, Texas, where he earned first-team National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III All-American honors.

He was also named the Metro Athletic Conference MVP along with a first-team All-Region selection.

Farris also competed in the NJCAA D-III National All-Star game and scored 16 points in only 14 minutes of playing time.

"We are excited about having Semar as part of our basketball program," MACU men's basketball head coach Willie Holley said.

"Semar is a "Little, Big Man", being only 5'5 but he plays a lot bigger.  He is definitely an impact player who will make everyone around him better.  Semar can get it done on both ends of the floor by scoring when needed, distributing the ball and playing defense on the other end.

Farris is joining a program coming off its best season since joining the NAIA.  The Evangels achieved their first-ever NAIA Top 25 national ranking and their highest finish in the Sooner Athletic Conference, coming in tied for third with USAO with a 9-7 conference record.

MACU also made its 22nd appearance in the NCCAA National Tournament after capturing their 20th NCCAA Central Regional championship.
