OKLAHOMA CITY -- Jared Coon went 3-of-4 with four RBI to lead the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma Drovers past the Mid-America Christian University Evangels in the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament Friday afternoon (May 3) at Jim Wade Stadium on the Oklahoma City University campus.
The Evangels got on the board first when Z Tipton singled, stole second and scored on an RBI double by Taylor Daniels in the bottom of the first.
But the lead was short-lived as an error paved the way for the Drovers to score four times in the second, capped by a two-run double by Coon.
USAO then broke it open with three more runs in the third and two in the fifth.
Konrad Mueller also came though for the Drovers, going 2-of-3 three RBI. Seth Sturgeon settled in after the first and blanked the Evangels on four hits over the next six innings.
The Evangels' season was highlighted by three victories over current or eventual NAIA Top 25 squads, highlighted by a 1-0 victory over current No. 1-ranked Oklahoma City University behind Christian Hill's complete game shutout.
USAO meanwhile is scheduled to play top-seeded OCU later tonight at 7 p.m.
