OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels have secured an exhibition matchup against the NCAA Division I Oral Roberts University Golden Eagles on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. inside the Mabee Center in Tulsa, Okla.
This will be the second straight season the Lady Evangels have faced a Division I opponent in Tulsa after playing the University of Tulsa Golden Hurricane last year.
ORU is under the direction of head coach Misti Cussen, who guided the Golden Eagles to the Southland Conference title and an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament in her first year at the helm last season. ORU battled second seeded Tennessee tough in the first round of the tourney before falling 83-62.
"We are excited for the early season test we will get by playing ORU," head coach Marcus Moeller said. "I want to thank Misti and her staff for the invitation to come play at the Mabee Center. The Mabee Center is one of the most historic and premier basketball venues in the state of Oklahoma, and we are looking forward to the opportunity to play there. We feature eight new players and another that was redshirting due to injury. ORU features 10 new players and another that was sitting out due to NCAA transfer rules. It will certainly be an opportunity for both of us to learn lot about our teams."
"Misti has done a phenomenal job last year leading them to the NCAA tournament. In the first round, they went into an extremely hostile environment in Knoxville and played the Lady Vols very tough. It will be a great opportunity for us to go compete against a very good basketball team."
Moeller's first game as head coach will take on Nov. 1, when the Lady Evangels will open the season by competing in the Baker University Classic against Southwestern College (Kan.) in Baldwin City, Kan. MACU will then play Tabor College (Kan.) on Nov. 2.
