Wilson Named NCCAA Men's Basketball Player of the Week

Greenville, S.C.-- One day after being named the Sooner Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, Mid-America Christian University junior guard Jarius Wilson has been selected as the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Player of the Week, the organization announced today (Jan. 28).

Wilson scored 25.5 points per game and averaged 5.5 rebounds to lead the No. 16-ranked Evangels to a pair of victories this past week and take over sole possession of second place in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

The Duncanville, Texas native scored a game-high in both victories, starting with a 26 point effort in an 87-74 win at John Brown University, then scored 25 points to power a 89-78 win over  then-No. 17-ranked St. Gregory's University.

Wilson's 25.5 ppg came on an extremely efficient 63.3 percent overall from the field and a blazing 72.7 percent from three-point distance.

Wilson is currently the top three-point percentage shooter in the SAC, hitting 50 percent (34-of-68) of his attempts from the perimeter.

Wilson and the Evangels (11-5, 7-3 SAC) will be back in action on Thursday night (Jan. 30) at USAO.  Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. in Chickasha, Okla.
