OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Mid-America Christian University Evangels baseball squad has been selected to finish seventh in the Sooner Athletic Conference baseball preseason coaches' poll, the league released yesterday (Nov. 10).

Defending league champion Oklahoma Baptist University edged out Oklahoma City University for the top spot in the poll.

USAO came in third, followed by Wayland Baptist University and Texas Wesleyan University to round out the top five.

Southwestern Assemblies of God University was sixth, with the Evangels, St. Gregory's University and Southwestern Christian University concluding the nine-team poll.

The Evangels, under fourth-year head coach Mike Brown, qualified for the SAC Postseason tournament last season by finishing eighth, before falling to top-seed OBU 7-6 when the potential game-tying run was thrown out at the plate.
