KANSAS CITY -- The Mid-America Christian University Evangels' historic season continues as they have moved up two spots to No. 14 in the latest NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll, released today (Feb. 4).
The No. 14 ranking once again represents the highest mark for the Evangels in school history.
Two other Sooner Athletic Conference schools are also ranked in the poll, including No. 4 Southwestern Assemblies of God University and No. 24-ranked St. Gregory's University. Oklahoma City University received 11 votes to narrowly miss out on entering the rankings.
MACU is under the direction of head coach Willie Holley, who in his 41st season has transformed the Evangels into an upper-echelon squad in the rugged Sooner Athletic Conference.
Semar Farris is leading the Evangels in both scoring 18.7 ppg), assists (95) and steals (58). Angelo Lewis is second at 16.9 ppg along with team-best six rebounds a game. Jarius Wilson (14.8 ppg) and Reggie Davis (12.2 ppg) are also scoring in double-figures for MACU.
The Evangels (13-5, 9-3 SAC) have won four straight overall and will look to continue their winning ways tonight against Oklahoma Baptist University at 8 p.m. inside the Gaulke Activity Center.
