Evangels, Lady Evangels Set to Compete in NCCAA Central Regional Tourney

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Mid-America Christian University Men's and Women's Basketball squads will be competing in the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Central Regional Tournament on the campus of Oklahoma Christian University in Oklahoma City.

The Evangels, after narrowly missing out on an NAIA Tournament berth yesterday, will be the third-seed in the tourney and will face sixth-seeded Central Christian College (Kan.) tonight (Mar. 13) at 5:30 p.m.

A victory would move the Evangels into the semifinal round Friday afternoon (Mar. 14) at 3:30 p.m. against the winner of Colorado Christian University and Crowley's Ridge College.

The men's championship will be Saturday afternoon (Mar. 15) at 4 p.m., with the winner automatically advancing to the NCCAA National Tournament next week at Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind.

The Lady Evangels are also the third-seed in their tournament and will play second-seeded Colorado Christian University tomorrow afternoon (Mar. 14) at 1:30 p.m.

With a win the Lady Evangels would advance to the tournament title game Saturday afternoon against the winner of Oklahoma Christian University and Southwestern Assemblies of God University at 2 p.m. with an automatic berth to the NCCAA National Tournament on the line.

It's been a historic season for both MACU basketball squads to this point.  The Evangels finished a school-best tied for second in the Sooner Athletic Conference, while the Lady Evangels' 11 conference victories are the most as an NAIA program.
