KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Mid-America Christian University junior guard Semar Farris has been named to the NAIA All-America squad as a second-team selection, the organization announced today (Mar. 26).
This marks the fourth straight year the Evangels have had a student-athlete selected as an NAIA All-American, as Farris joins Charlie Shorter (twice) and Brandon Williams as previous honorees.
Farris provided an immediate, dominant presence at point guard in his first year with the program by leading the team in scoring (19.4 ppg), assists (173), steals (109) and threes (79). His assists and steals output are the most by an Evangel in a season since joining the NAIA in 2007.
Farris and he Evangels received their highest-ever NAIA national ranking this season, peaking at No. 14 before falling one spot short of securing the program's first-ever NAIA National Tournament bid.
The Ft. Worth, Texas native also helped MACU to its highest conference finish since joining the NAIA by coming in tied for second in the SAC with a 12-8 league record.
Farris also helped the Evangels advance to the NCCAA National Tournament this season and finish in sixth place overall.
