Greenville, S.C. -- Mid-America Christian University junior point guard Semar Farris has been named to the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) All-Central Region first team, the organization announced today (Mar. 4).

Yesterday (Mar. 3), Farris was picked as a first-team All-Sooner Athletic Conference performer and was also selected as the SAC Newcomer of the Year.

In his first season with the program, Farris has made an immediate impact, posting team-highs in points (20.2 ppg), assists (140), steals (83) and threes (66).

The Ft. Worth, Texas native led the SAC in steals per game, while ranking fourth in the league in both points per game and assists per game. He was also third in the NAIA in steals per game and ninth in assists per game.

Farris' play helped the Evangels to a 12-8 league record and into a four-way tie for second place in the SAC, their highest ever conference finish.

The Evangels will compete in the SAC Postseason Tournament on Thursday afternoon (Mar. 6) as the fourth seed and will face fifth-seeded Oklahoma City University at 4:30 p.m. at the Noble Complex on the campus of Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla.
