Evangels Take Down Friends 6-2

Wichita, Kan. -- The Mid-America Christian University Evangels marched into Wichita, Kan. and defeated the Friends University Falcons 6-2 today (Apr. 15).

The Falcons (28-17) were ranked No. 23 in the NAIA Top 25 poll two weeks ago before receiving votes in this week's poll.

Chevin Noone was spectacular on the mound for the Evangels, going the full nine innings and allowing only two earned runs with three strikeouts.

Down 1-0 in the second, the Evangels (12-25) plated three runs when A.J. Wilson led off with a double and scored the tying run on a single by Taylor Daniels.

RBI singles from Ryan Moseley and Daniel Thompson followed to put the Evangels up 3-1.

Two more runs were added in the sixth as Z Tipton hit an RBI double and scored on an error to make it a five-run lead for the Evangels.

Logan Glasgow then tripled to lead off the seventh and scored an insurance run on an RBI groundout by Kevin Gay.

Troy Williams hit an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh for the Falcons, before Noone ended the threat by inducing a double play.

Glasgow went 2-of-4 at the plate on the day and Moseley drove in two runs.

The Evangels will next begin a three-game series at USAO Thursday afternoon (Apr. 17) at 3 p.m. in Chickasha, Okla.

MACU will then host a twinbill with the Drovers Saturday afternoon (Apr. 19) at 1 p.m. at James Curtis Field.
