Eagles Rally for 5-4 Win Over Evangels

Bethany, Okla. -- The Southwestern Christian University Eagles came from four runs down in the eighth inning to defeat the Mid-America Christian University Evangels 5-4 in the first of a three-game series today (Apr. 3) in Bethany, Okla.

The Evangels had built a 4-0 lead as A.J. Wilson, Logan Glasgow and Chevin Noone each drove in a run through the first eight frames.

But SCU took advantage of a pair of errors to score five runs, including three unearned tallies in the bottom of the eighth.

Tyler Meacham had two hits on the day, including two RBI in the deciding eighth inning.

The Evangels out-hit the Eagles 10-3 as Ryan Moseley went 3-of-5 and Wilson picked up two hits.

Robert Santana struck out 12 for the Evangels against six walks with two earned runs allowed on three hits.

Jacob Spencer pitched the first 6 2/3 innings for SCU and Justin Parks followed with two innings and gave up one unearned tally to get the win.  Tyler McDonald then pitched a scoreless ninth to pick up the save.

The Evangels will host the final two games of the series against SCU, starting tomorrow (Apr. 4) with a single game at 2 p.m. at James Curtis Field.
