Shawnee, Okla. -- The Wayland Baptist University Pioneers got at least two RBI from five different players en route to a 14-2 win over the Mid-America Christian University Evangels in the second game of pool play at the Sooner Athletic Conference Tournament today (May 3) on the campus of Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, Okla.
The Pioneers jumped on the Evangels early as an RBI double by Mark Davis and a two-run single from Damion Lovato sparked a four-run first inning.
WBU wasn't through and scored four more in the third when Brayden Blackell finished the frame with a two-run homer.
A day after getting three hits in the tournament opener, Taylor Daniels continued his solid hitting for the Evangels by hitting a two-run homer in the fifth to put MACU on the board.
But the Pioneers allowed the Evangels no closer and put it away with another four-run inning in the fifth and two more in the sixth.
The Evangels (14-33) couldn't get much off of Pioneer starter Taylor Bridges, who allowed only one earned run on six hits and struck out seven.
Chris Buitron went 2-of-2 with a team-high three RBI on the day for the Pioneers.
The Evangels will wrap up the season with another SAC tourney pool play game against USAO tomorrow afternoon (May 4) at 1 p.m., again at OBU in Shawnee, Okla.
