Moeller Announces Signing of Tonkawa High School Product Logan Burgess

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Mid-America Christian University head women's basketball coach Marcus Moeller has announced the signing of freshman Logan Burgess for the upcoming 2014-15 season.

A 5'7 guard, Burgess comes to MACU after a very stellar four-year high school career at Tonkawa High School in Tonkawa, Okla.

During Burgess' senior campaign, the Lady Pirates finished 22-7 and lost in the 2A state semifinal to eventual state champion Preston.  In the weeks following their run in the state tournament, the accolades began to roll in.  She was named first-team All-State by the OCA, OGBA, Indian All-State and was also a first-team 2A state tournament selection.

Burgess' impressive high school career was not limited to the basketball floor.  She is a two time state champion track and field athlete in the two mile relay and the two mile run.  She finished second in three events at the state track and field championships while also placing fifth in the high jump her senior year.

Burgess was also an all-conference performer on the softball diamond.  Perhaps Burgess' most impressive accomplishments happened in the classroom where she was the Valedictorian of her 2014 graduating class, had a career 4.0 GPA and was a member of the National Honor Society.

"Logan is my type of player," Moeller said.  "She just understands the game at such a high rate.  She has great feel for spacing, angles and timing on the floor."

"Logan can really shoot the ball and as a result of her vision and instincts is a high level passer.  Ultimately, I think her biggest strength is her poise.  She has phenomenal body language and is the same when things are good and when they're not going well.  It will be fun to see what our program can accomplish during Logan's career here at MACU!"

Burgess will be joining a team that won its most games overall (18) and conference games (11) under first-year coach Moeller since joining the NAIA back in 2007.
