Farris Earns Second SAC Player of the Week Award

OKLAHOMA CITY -- For the second time this season, Mid-America Christian University senior guard Semar Farris has been named the Sooner Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, the league announced today (Feb. 16).

Farris put together another typically outstanding two game stretch in leading the No. 16-ranked Evangels to a pair of victories at John Brown University and USAO to stay on top of the Sooner Athletic Conference with an 11-3 league record along with an 18-8 overall mark.

The Ft. Worth, Texas native scored 26 points in both wins along with 3.5 rebounds, 5.5 steals while shooting a rock-solid 62.5 percent from the field overall and 64.7 percent from the perimeter.

In the win at JBU, Farris tied his career-high with seven steals and then recorded four more thefts to spark the victory at USAO.

Farris is currently ninth in the SAC in points (17.5 ppg), third in assists (5.0 apg) and tops in the league in steals (2.4 spg).

Farris and the Evangels, winners of 10 of their last 12, will be back in action Thursday night (Feb. 19) at Oklahoma Baptist University.  Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. in Shawnee, Okla.
