Baseball Evangels Swept in DH at USAO; Tomorrow's Game Postponed

Chickasha, Okla. -- The USAO Drovers (RV) defeated the Mid-America Christian University Evangels 16-0 and 7-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference opening games for both schools today (Feb. 25) in Chickasha, Okla. The Drovers won by scores of 16-0 and 7-1.

The Drovers scored three in the second and exploded for 10 runs in the third.

Cesar Figuereo drove in the first two runs of the inning with a two-run single and then capped the big frame with a three-run home run.

USAO also got four RBI from Rafael Pena and Nick Johnson drove in three runs.

Allan Sanchez struck out nine in five innings to get the win for the Drovers.

In the second game, it was Blake Scannell doing the early damage for USAO.

Scannell hit a two-run homer to finish a three-run second inning before driving in two more with an RBI single to cap a three-run third.

The Evangels (6-9-1, 0-2 SAC) got on the board in the fourth on an RBI double by A.J. Wilson that plated Daniel Thompson.

Chevin Noone had two hits in each game for the Evangels.

Alsis Herrera was the winning pitcher for USAO after lasting five innings, with one run allowed and five strikeouts.

Once again, errors really hurt the Evangels chances.  In the opener, three errors led to nine unearned runs and two more miscues led to four unearned tallies in the nightcap.

Tomorrow's scheduled series finale has been postponed, with a makeup date yet to be announced.
