OKLAHOMA CITY -- The No. 3-ranked Oklahoma City University Stars rallied from four runs down to defeat the Mid-America Christian University Evangels 14-4 in the opening game of a Sooner Athletic Conference series tonight (Apr. 23) at Jim Wade Stadium on the OCU campus.
MACU starter Aaron Carroll kept the Stars off the scoreboard for the first four innings, allowing the Evangels to jump out to an early lead.
Reggie Lindsey broke the scoreless tie with a two-run single in the fourth before an RBI double by Chevin Noone and a run-scoring single from Brandon Bordonaro in the fifth gave the Evangels (20-24-1, 5-15 SAC) a 4-0 lead.
But the wheels began to come off in the bottom of the fifth as two straight walks and a single led to a grand slam by Dylan Delso that tied the score at 4-4.
Connor Lynch then made it back-to-back homers with a solo shot that put OCU on top.
It remained a 5-4 game until the Stars (36-10, 17-2 SAC) exploded with a seven-run seventh inning to put it away.
Miguel Gonzalez came in and pitched three scoreless innings out of the bullpen to get the win for OCU.
The Evangels will host the Stars tomorrow afternoon (Apr. 24) in the middle game of the series at 3 p.m.
