OKLAHOMA CITY -- The 2015-16 schedule for the defending Sooner Athletic Conference champion Mid-America Christian University Evangels has been officially released and one date is sure to perk the interests of MACU fans everywhere.
The Evangels, under new head coach Josh Gamblin, will be squaring off with the reigning Big XII Player of the Year Buddy Hield and the University of Oklahoma Sooners in a tasty exhibition matchup set for Nov. 12 at the Lloyd Noble Center.
The outing at OU returns Gamblin to his old stomping grounds after serving as a graduate assistant coach for the Sooners last season.
The opening contest of the 2015-16 campaign will be on Oct. 27 when the Evangels host Haskell University at 7 p.m. inside the Gaulke Activity Center.
The Evangels will then kick off the SAC portion of the schedule on Dec. 5 at Texas Wesleyan University in Ft. Worth, Texas.
"We are extremely excited for the upcoming season," Gamblin said. "To go along with playing several very good NAIA programs we also play two very well established NCAA Division II progams and then of course an opportunity to play @ OU will be excellent for our program. We feel like our non-conference schedule will prepare us well for the always tough SAC slate."
The Evangels are coming off their best season since joining the NAIA. In addition to capturing their first SAC regular season championship, MACU also advanced all the way to the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Championship Tournament in their debut appearance.
