Tate Named NCCAA MBB Player of the Week

Greenville, NC -- Just one day after being named the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week, senior Mid-America Christian University guard Nick Tate has now earned the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Men's Basketball Player of the Week award, the organization announced today (Jan. 19).

Tate played a starring role in helping the No. 15-ranked Evangels extend their winning streak to six games with an average of 22.5 points per game and 11.5 rebounds in the two victories this past week.

He recorded a double-double of 18 points and career-high 14 boards in the win over Oklahoma City University and then produced 27 points and nine rebounds to lead a 105-96 victory at St. Gregory's University.

The two performances was a continuation of what the Sand Springs, Okla. native has been doing all season, as Tate leads the Evangels in both points (17.8 ppg) and rebounds (7.4 rpg).

Tate and the Evangels are now gearing up for their next big test Thursday night (Jan. 21) at home against No. 18-ranked Southwestern Assemblies of God University. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. inside the Gaulke Activity Center.
