Evangels Ascend to Highest NAIA Ranking in School History

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Riding a six-game winning streak, the Mid-America Christian University Evangels have soared to the ninth spot in the latest NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll, the organization released tonight (Jan. 19).  It represents the highest ranking for the Evangels in school history since joining the NAIA in 2007.

This season is a continuation of last year's historic run that saw the Evangels win their first-ever Sooner Athletic Conference regular season championship and advance to the quartefinals of the NAIA National Championship Tournament.

The Evangels, 14-3 overall and 4-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference, are coming off victories over Oklahoma City University and at St. Gregory's University this past week.

MACU is the highest ranked SAC school in the poll, followed by No. 13 Texas Wesleyan University and No. 16 Southwestern Assemblies of God University.

It'll be 16th ranked SAGU up next as the Evangels go for their seventh straight win on Thursday night (Jan. 21).  Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. inside the Gaulke Activity Center.
