Evangels Climb to Seventh in Latest NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- For the second straight week, the Mid-America Christian University Evangels have moved to their highest ranking in school history in the NAIA by climbing to seventh in the latest NAIA Top 25 Coaches' Poll, the organization released today (Jan. 26). The Evangels are tied for seventh in the current poll with Hope International (Calif.).

Under the guidance of first-year head coach Josh Gamblin, the Evangels are the highest ranked Sooner Athletic Conference school, ahead of No. 12-ranked Texas Wesleyan University and No. 20-ranked Southwestern Assemblies of God University.

"Our guys have done a great job, their work ethic, drive and coachability have made them an extremely fun group to work with," Gamblin said. "I am blessed to be their coach and I also have the two best assistant coaches in the country, bar none."

In the midst of a school-best eight-game winning streak (as an NAIA school), the 16-3 Evangels are at USAO tonight in Chickasha, Okla.

MACU then returns home for two games, starting Thursday night (Jan. 28) against Bacone College before a Top 25 showdown looms vs. Texas Wesleyan on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 30) inside the Gaulke Activity Center.
