Baseball Evangels Tripped Up 12-5 to Southwestern Oklahoma State

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Southwestern Oklahoma State University Bulldogs, an NCAA D-II school out of Weatherford, Okla., got two RBIs from four different players and defeated the Mid-America Christian University Evangels 12-5 today (Feb. 16) at James Curtis Field.

Korbin Polston, Bryan Holt, Trent Troxell and Haden Houska each drove in two runs as the Bulldogs jumped out with four runs in the first inning.

The Evangels got on the board with a run in the bottom of the second, before the Bulldogs added two on a two-run double by Houska in the top of the third.

SWOSU (4-4) built the lead to 12-1 heading to the bottom of the seventh when the Evangels got a pair of two-run homers from Daxton Marley and Chevin Noone to stay alive.

MACU then threatened to come closer by loading the bases with one out in the ninth, but Brett McNaughton got two straight strikeouts to close out the game.

Ryan Moseley and Aaron Conway each collected two hits in the game for the Evangels (2-6).

The Evangels will remain at home and host Waldorf College for a doubleheader Friday afternoon (Feb. 19) beginning at 1 p.m.
