OKLAHOMA CITY -- For the second straight week and third time overall this season, the Mid-America Christian University Lady Evangels have a player selected as the Sooner Athletic Conference Player of the Week. This time, it's junior forward D'Shala Culberson that receives the award, the league announced today (Feb. 8).
The 5'9 Duncan, Okla. native has been a force on the glass for the Lady Evangels this season, leading the squad with 8.9 rebounds per game.
Culberson averaged a double-double this past week of 15.5 points and 12 rebounds that was capped by a 25 point, 19 rebound performance in an 87-56 victory over St. Gregory's University. Culberson was perfect in all facets against SGU, shooting a perfect 10-of-10 from the floor and hitting all five of her free-throw attempts.
Her 19 rebounds tied for the second-most in a single-game and were only one shy of her own single-game school record (as an NAIA school) she set earlier this season.
She also had six points, five boards, three assists and four steals as the Lady Evangels were tied at No. 14 OCU heading into the fourth quarter before falling 70-62.
Culberson and the Lady Evangels will next host USAO Thursday evening (Feb. 11) at 6 p.m. inside the Gaulke Activity Center.
